Jonathan Murphy

Licensed Funeral Director/Embalmer

Jonathan Murphy was born and raised in Covington. He is the son of Milton Murphy of Covington and Kathy Murphy of Brighton. He is a graduate of Covington High School and Memphis State University (The University of Memphis). He and his wife Christy make their home in Brighton and attend Munford Baptist Church. They are proud parents of three daughters, one son, one granddaughter, and one grandson. Jonathan’s funeral service education was obtained from the Dallas Institute of Funeral Service in Dallas, Texas where he graduated in 1995. He became a licensed Funeral Director and licensed Embalmer in 1996. His experience in the funeral industry began at Forest Hill Funeral Home and over his career, he has worked for Chism-Smith Funeral Home in Irving, Texas and Munford Funeral Home. Throughout the years, Jonathan has served the community as a board member at the Covington/Tipton County Chamber of Commerce and the Exchange Club/Carl Perkins Center for the Prevention of Child abuse and is currently serving as a county commissioner on the Tipton County Commission, representing District 9.
