Woodrow Wayne Hartsfield

Woodrow Wayne Hartsfield, age 81, of Covington, Tennessee, passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, August 17, 2022, of natural causes. Born in Covington, Tennessee on January 27, 1941, Wayne was a graduate of Byars Hall High School, and worked as a Journeyman, studying electrical and mechanical instrumentation. He later became a Master Electrician, and maintained this certification throughout his life. He married Betty Jean Shahan on June 8, 1985. Wayne worked as an Electrical and Mechanical Supervisor for PCS Nitrogen for 30 years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and especially gardening, and was actively involved in Smyrna Baptist Church and taught hunter safety education classes for many years. Wayne was active in the Army National Guard with an Honorable Discharge in October of 1962. Wayne is survived by his wife of 37 years, Betty Jean Hartsfield, his children Wade Hartsfield, Sandy Will (David), Melissa McCaig (Bobby), Kelly Rouse (Nick); his brothers, Kenneth Hartsfield and Chris Hartsfield; nine grandchildren, Heather Widdoes, Amber Widdoes, Joshua Widdoes, Sarah Branch, Shania Higgins, Tristan Lovell, Kayleigh Rogers, Kolton Lovell, and Kayden Lovell; eleven great-grandchildren, and many other family and friends. Wayne is preceded in death by his parents Woodrow Wilson Hartsfield and Anna Miller Hartsfield; his sisters, Martha Kellum and Glenda Burns; his brother, Jerry Hartsfield; three grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. Funeral services will be held at 1pm on Tuesday, August 23, at Covington Funeral Home, with a visitation from 5pm until 7pm on Monday evening at the funeral home. Brother Danny Spurlock of Smyrna Baptist Church will be officiating. Interment will follow the funeral at Magnolia Gardens Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to the National Kidney Foundation or Smyrna Baptist Church of Burlison, TN.
