William "Dude" Trantham, Jr.

William Farris “Dude” Trantham of Covington, TN passed away in his home on August 3, 2023. Born and raised in Tipton County, the Detroit community was his birth place and where he called home. He was a lifetime farmer and ginner. Whether in or out of the field, Dude always had one of his beloved dogs by his side. He enjoyed conversation with his fellow farmers and often had coffee with all the locals to catch up on the happenings.

He was preceeded in death by his mother and father, Nancy Elva and William Farris Trantham, Sr. and his sister, Francine Trantham Zeran.  He leaves his wife of 50 years, Shirley Klyce Trantham; his daughter, Trudy Trantham Fisher; his son, William Ferris Trantham, III (Dee Dee); 5 grandchildren, Maggie Fisher, Tanzer Trantham (Anna), Will Fisher, Tyler Trantham, Sam Fisher, and 3 great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held at Covington Funeral Home from 2:00-3:00pm on Friday, August 18, 2023. Graveside service to follow at 3:00 pm at Magnolia Gardens Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to Alzheimer’s Association, First United Methodist Church in Covington, or an animal rescue of your choice.
