William "Billy" Goforth

April 18, 1936 — February 11, 2018

William "Billy" Goforth, 81, of Covington, passed away on Sunday, February 11.  He was born in Brighton to Alvin P. Goforth and Lee Amy Baskin Goforth on April 18, 1936.  Mr. Goforth was a retired store owner and worked at Uncle Sam's Store in Brighton for many years.  He served in the U. S. Army and the Tennessee National Guard for 37 years.  He loved sports - especially the St. Louis Cardinals baseball team and umpired as well as coached many in the Tipton County sports programs.  He leaves a son, Kevin Goforth; a daughter, Leigh Anne Barry; three granddaughters, Autumn McCain, Jessie Barry and Skylar Goforth; three great granddaughters, Ryleigh, Halleigh and Presleigh; two brothers, Charles "Holey" Goforth and Alvin "Bud" Goforth and may relatives and friends.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Mitzi Goforth; two sisters, Mary Lee Delashmit and Frances Kinney; four brothers, Kenneth Goforth, Waldon Goforth, Leon Goforth and Warner Goforth; one daughter-in-law, Holly Goforth and one son-in-law, Charles Barry.  Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, February 15 at the Covington Funeral Home chapel with interment to follow in Indian Creek Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Wednesday, February 14 at the funeral home.
