Warner Menefee “Jay” Hadley, Jr., age 93, of Covington, passed away at his home in Millington, on Tuesday, February 15, 2022. When asked what Mr. Hadley did for a living, his family said that he could be found wearing an APAC uniform, standing with a smile on his face. He worked his whole life to provide for his family, whether it was at home or at his job. Actions followed his words, and his children watched how loving, dedicated, and hard-working he was. He had a voice and hands of strength and calming peace. He showed up for his family all through the years, and even when he couldn’t be there in person, his presence was always felt. Jay played several instruments, and shared his joy for music and singing with all who would listen. His family considers him truly one of the greatest gifts they have been given in this life, and he will be deeply missed. He is survived by his wife, Sheila Fay Hadley; two daughters, Candace Fay Hadley of Millington, and Genna Shea Brugal of Naples, FL; four sons, Jimmy Hadley of Covington, Timothy Jay Hadley of Millington, Shannon Doran Hadley of Bella Vista, AR, and Christopher Lance Hadley of Key West, FL; four sisters, Lina Savage of Stanton, Margaret McDaniel of Covington, Martha Honey of Atoka, and Margie Hindman of Gardendale, AL; one brother, Marshall Ray Hadley of Covington; ten grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, Warner Menefee Hadley, Sr.; his mother, Mable Edith Warren Hadley; one daughter, Judith Ann Edwards; one sister, Jeanne Combs; three brothers, Ruie Wayne Hadley, Winford Thelton Hadley, and Gailey Hadley. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, February 20, 2022, at the Covington Funeral Home chapel, with interment to follow in Sigler Cemetery in Millington. The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service at the funeral home. Active pallbearers are Tim Hadley, Shannon Hadley, Chris Hadley, Candace Hadley, Genna Brugal, and Carrio Anthony.
