Wanda Lynn Bellow, 78, of Covington, passed away on Wednesday, November 17 at Methodist Hospital North in Memphis. Born in Covington to the late John and Doris Jackson, she was a graduate of Munford High School and of Gateway College in Wisconsin, receiving a nursing degree. She served in the nursing field for over 40 years and also worked as a respiratory therapist. While living in Wisconsin, she served as an Alderman for the City of Kenosha for nine years and briefly served as acting mayor. She will be remembered for her many fundraisers for the homeless as well as veterans. Wanda raised money performing in shows and was known for performing as Elvis Presley, Tina Turner, and Phyllis Diller, just to name a few. She was nominated for Ms. Senior Tipton County three times as well as Ms. Congeniality of Tennessee. She was also the Past President of the Tipton County Fine Arts Council. Wanda served in the Tennessee State Guard and was the only woman to receive the “Alvin C. York Award”, having received it two times. She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Gerald Bellow; one son, Jeff Daugherty; two step-sons, Gerald Bellow, Jr. and Steven M. Bellow; one step-daughter, Kathleen Ward; two sisters, Carolyn Lantto and Mary Ann Hunter; 11 grandchildren and a host of great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one step-daughter, Kerry M. Bellow; three sisters, Shelby Lowe, Paulette Belk and Geraldine Jackson Carter and four brothers, Sanford Jackson, Julian Jackson, Bryson Thomas Jackson and Algie Lee Jackson. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, November 23 at the Covington Funeral Home chapel with interment to follow in Magnolia Gardens Cemetery. The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service at the funeral home.
