Velma "Louise" Martin

Velma “Louise” Martin, 87, of Covington passed peacefully of natural causes on Monday February 4th, 2019.  A visitation will be held from 5p.m. to 7p.m. on Wednesday, February 6 at the Covington Funeral Home. She had many careers in her lifetime. Factory worker, cotton picker, caretaker, business owner, security guard, retail clerk, and crafter, just to name a few. She finally retired at the age of 65. She spent the last several years enjoying her crafts, and playing with her two dogs, Sam and Oddie. She is preceded in death by her mother, Florence Murley Mincey; her husband, James Edward Martin; three daughters, Joyce Maharrey, Alice Faye Martin, and Stella Louise Martin; one son, Nickey Martin, and one grandson, Richard Martin. She is survived by two children, Kay Parsons (Larry) of Collierville, and James “Buddy” Martin of Gibson; four grandchildren, Bo Maharrey (Janet) of Garland, Tammy Troutman (Ricky) of Ripley, Mark Parsons (Melissa) of Millington, and April Parsons of Collierville; numerous great-grandchildren, and several great-great grandchildren.
