Sibyl Jean Walker

Sibyl Jean Walker, age 91, passed away on Tuesday, May 3, 2022, at her home in Covington, TN. She was born on October 15, 1930, to the late Ellis Arnett and Mary Ellen Baskin Townsend, in Burlison, TN. Sibyl was married to the love of her life, Dempsey Walker, and spent her time as a homemaker, taking care of her children and a multitude of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Ms. Sibyl was a simple and selfless lady, always putting others before herself. She was a member of Central Christian Church in Covington. She was preceded in death by her husband, Buford Dempsey Walker, her parents, and her siblings, Marshall Townsend, Dick Townsend, Louise Townsend, and Robbie Sue Anderson. Ms. Sibyl is survived by her four children, Marilyn (Wayne) Grantham, Keith (Debbie) Walker, Carol Jan (Tim) McLillie, and Tony (Sonya) Walker; her brother, Ellis (Janice) Townsend, of Franklin, TN; ten grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. She also leaves her wonderful caretakers, Linda Jackett, Marcia Murray, and Linda Hazlerig Martin, who have helped take care of her for the past two years. Graveside services for Ms. Sibyl Walker will be held at 12:30 pm on Friday, May 6 at the Covington Memorial Gardens in Covington, TN. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 11 am until 12 noon. In lieu of flowers, gifts in memory of Sibyl can be offered to a charity of your choice.
