Shirley Hensley

Shirley Gray Hensley, age 89, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, July 6, 2023. Mrs. Shirley loved her family, working out in the garden, going to eat at the Mexican restaurant on her birthday, and was crazy about her Memphis Tigers! She retired from her 30-year career at Sears, where she worked as a human resources clerk, and was a member of the Covington First United Methodist Church, as well as a former member of the local gardening club. To cherish her memory, she leaves two children, Kitty (Ricky) Layne and Keith Hensley; three grandchildren, Matthew (Angie) Layne, Robyn (Edgar) Hensley Lopez, and Kristyn Hensley, and five great-grandchildren, Gavin Layne, Hunter Layne, Tyler Layne, Bryce Layne, and Zach Layne. She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Robert “Bob” Hensley, her grandson, Paul Layne, and her parents, Claude Leonard and Mabel Bowden Gray. Funeral services for Mrs. Shirley will be held on Wednesday, July 12th at 11am in the chapel of Covington Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 10am until service time at the funeral home. Interment will follow the service in Magnolia Gardens Cemetery in Covington.
