Sara Smith Wells

Sara Smith Wells, 65, of Brighton, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, May 21 at Methodist Hospital –North in Memphis. Sara was an animal lover and an avid outdoorswoman. She loved to cook, tend to her garden, enjoyed equestrian activities and water sports. Her love of nature extended in to a beekeeping hobby. She served her community through her service on two volunteer fire departments; Three Star Vol. Fire Department in Tipton County and the Braden Vol. Fire Department in Fayette County. A graduate of dental school, she worked as a dental office lab technician. She is survived by her husband, Jimmy Wells; three sons, Daniel (Jennifer) Phillips of Covington, Chris (Christa) Phillips of Bartlett and Scott (Jennifer) Phillips of Atoka; six grandchildren, Christian Phillips, Kaylee Phillips, Colton Phillips, Lucas Phillips, Caitlyn Phillips and Isabella Phillips; one sister, Vicky (Mike) McCaslin of Bartlett and two nephews, Geoff McCaslin and Ben McCaslin. She was preceded in death by her parents, William and June Ivey Smith. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, May 25 at the Covington Funeral Home chapel with interment to follow in R. H. Munford Cemetery. The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service at the funeral home.
