Sandra Melton

Sandra Gatlin Melton, 78, of Covington, passed away on Monday, November 20.  Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, November 24 at the Covington Funeral Home with interment to follow in Forest Hill Cemetery - East in Memphis.  The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service at the funeral home.  During her lifetime, Sandra served the funeral business faithfully having served at both Forest Hill Funeral Home and Memorial Park Funeral Home in Memphis. In 2002, upon the opening of the Covington Funeral Home, Sandra joined as the secretary/receptionist and remained active until her retirement in 2013.  She is considered a founding member of the Covington Funeral Home.  Sandra is survived by one daughter, Scarlet (Terry) Jenkins of Vicksburg, MS; two sons, Greg Melton of Munford and Mike Melton of Southaven; one sister, Teresa (Jacky) Peyton of Covington; one brother, Jerry (Kay) Gatlin of Covington; four grandchildren and two great grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon Ferrell Melton; one son, Brad Melton; one sister, Linda Parr and her parents, Sanford Gatlin and Dorothy Gatlin McDaniel. The family requests that any memorials be made to St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital.
