Sandra Kay Carruthers

Sandra Kay Rogers Carruthers, age 56, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, July 7, 2021. A former employee of Mapco, Circle K, Covington Elementary School, Baptist Memphis, and Cowboy Cleaners, she had finally settled into a comfortable retirement as a homemaker. In her leisure time, she enjoyed watching movies, reading books, hunting down yard sales, and cooking for family and friends. Ms. Sandra is preceded in death by her husband, Tony Carruthers, whom she is finally reunited with in Heaven; her mother, Judy Ann Rogers; her father, Richard Rogers; her grandmothers, Ruth Rogers and Mary Lois Easley; her grandfathers, Elbert Rogers and Claude Easley; her special aunt, Margaret Freeman; three uncles; a second mother, Nolan Glover; one niece, Janyla Kemp, and one cousin, Michele Grubaugh. Left behind to remember Ms. Sandra Carruthers and mourn her loss are Takisha Carruthers-Kemp and family; Earnestine Weaver; Odis and Sonja Carruthers; Mary-Jo Wren and family, and a host many of cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. Calling hours at the funeral home will be Friday, July 16, from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. Cremation services are under the direction of Covington Funeral Home.
