Sandra “Sandy” Allen, age 74, of Atoka, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, July 17, 2023, and is at peace, having finally won her years-long battle with non-alcohol related fatty liver disease. Ms. Sandy was a nurse at Dr. Cannon’s clinic, and helped treat and heal Tipton County for over 30 years, until she retired. She built many friendships during her time at the clinic, and her love and compassion for others shined brightly. She especially enjoyed the elderly patients that she cared for, because everyone always had a story to tell! In her retirement, she was kept busy with her grandchildren, taking them to the movies and spending time with them. Ms. Sandy loved to be outside. If she wasn’t with the grandkids, you could find her tending the tomato garden, out digging in her flower beds, or taking a trip to the closest body of water. It didn’t matter if she was fishing, riding the waves on a float, or simply sitting on the bank watching the current, she loved the water. Sandra Allen was a mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, but most of all, she was a prayer warrior. She was a member of Living Waters Gospel Church, and shared her love for the Lord with anyone who would listen. She believed in “taking it to the Throne,” and would pray with and for all that needed it. To cherish her memory, she leaves her daughter, Karen Michelle (Jason) Simpson; five grandchildren, Tucker Newman, Amanda Newman Fite, April Newman Rogers, Morgan Simpson Hanks, and Oliver Ryan Simpson; six great-grandchildren, Karson, Bradon, Gauge, Kolton, Heddie Mae, Khyla; her nephew, Josh Morrison; her brother, David Morrison, Jr.; her sister, Vicki Finley; two faithful dogs that have followed her as closely as her own shadow, Lucky and Heidi; her life-long friends, Bo and Jane Spray, and Jimmy and Peggy Blakely, and her Living Waters church family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, David and Virginia Stumph Morrison, Sr., and Sophie, the best (and favorite) dog she ever had. A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, July 22, at Living Waters Gospel Church located at 2739 Old Memphis Rd, Covington, TN 38019. Visitation for friends and family will be held from 12 noon until 2pm, with the service to begin at 2pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital in memory of Mrs. Sandra Kay Allen.
