Ruby Marie Cox, 84, of Burlison, passed away on Thursday, August 10. Ruby Marie, or “Mama Ree” as she was known, was one of 16 children born to the late Dave and Ruby Fowler Daniels. She and her late husband, Eugene, were the owners and operators of the West Side Flea Market and the Little Hatchie Café.
A loving and sweet person to all who knew her and met her, she is survived by one daughter, Cindy (Benny) Yearwood; one son, Timmy Cox; five brothers, Lynn Daniels, Jimmy Daniels, Johnny (Ruth Ann) Daniels, Dave (Joan) Daniels, Jr. and O’Neal (Nancy) Daniels; one sister, Margaret Stafford; nine grandchildren, Gene Yearwood, Walker Yearwood, Michelle Cox Lewis, Daniel Price, Chad Cox, Tyler Cox, Amanda Cox, Kyle Yearwood and April Johnson; 12 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews she loved. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one son, Tommy Cox; one grandson, Todd Cox; one granddaughter, Leeanna Marie Anderson; six brothers, Bobby, Kenneth, Richard, Etheridge, Joe and R. D. Daniels and three sisters, Icye Travis, Verna Mai Overton and Alma Ruth Shires.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, August 19 at the Covington Funeral Home chapel with interment to follow in Magnolia Gardens Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Friday, August 18 at the funeral home.
