Ronald Christopher “Chris” Hartsfield, age 73, passed away on Monday, November 28, 2022, at his home in Covington, surrounded by his loving family. He attended Charleston Baptist Church, burned up the roads as a truck driver owner/operator, was a proud Vietnam veteran, having served overseas in the United States Army, and a past Senior Steward for the Dunham Masonic Lodge # 150. As stubborn as they come, Mr. Chris would tell you exactly what he thought about things, but he loved to laugh and pick, too. In his down time, he enjoyed being outside, fishing, and jumping waves on his pontoon when he and the grandkids would put in their boat on the river. His family meant so much to him (almost as much as his tractor and his uncrustables sandwiches, or “untouchables” as he called them!) Chris was a loving husband, father, and grandfather, and his legacy continues on in the memories and stories shared by those that knew and loved him. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Doris Johnson Hartsfield; his children, Dexter (Julie) Hartsfield and Brandie (Carl) Pruitt; his grandchildren, Angela Campbell, Michael Hartsfield, Jay Hartsfield, Clay Hartsfield, Ashlie Pruitt, Sara Pruitt, Aubrey Pruitt, Austin Pruitt, and Archer Pruitt; his brother, Kenneth Hartsfield, and numerous other family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Woodrow Wilson and Anna Miller Hartsfield; his son, Ronald Christopher “Chrisy” Hartsfield, II; his infant granddaughter, Jenny, and four siblings, Martha Kellum, Glenda Burns, Jerry Hartsfield, and Woodrow Wayne Hartsfield. Services for Ronald Chris Hartsfield will be held at 11 am on Thursday, December 1, 2022 at Covington Funeral Home, with interment to follow in Charleston Cemetery. Visitation for friends and family will be held the evening prior at the funeral home, from 5 pm until 7 pm.
