Robert Liles Strong

Robert (Bob) Liles Strong, 88, of Atoka, passed away on Thursday, November 5, 2020. He was retired from DuPont Chemical Company and from farming. He was a life long member of Salem Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church where he was an elder. He was a founding board member of Poplar Grove Utility and a founding father of Tipton Academy. Mr. Strong was a veteran of the United States Air Force. He is survived by two daughters, Jan (David) Jones of Atoka and Julie (Mike) Arney of Collierville; three grandchildren, Elise (Mike) Tompkins, Jon Robert Jones and Mick Arney and his care giver, LaVerne Hawkins. He was preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, Joan P. Strong; his parents, Joseph Wylie and Maggie Liles Strong; one son, Robert Jeffery Strong and one grandchild, Michael Connor Arney. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, November 8 at the Salem A.R.P. Church with interment to follow in the Salem Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Covington Funeral Home has charge of services. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the Salem A.R.P. Church or the charity of the donor's choice.
