Robert Martin Simpson

Robert Martin Simpson, 72, of Covington, passed away on Sunday, August 25.  Mr. Simpson was the retired Public Works Director for the City of Covington and a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Covington, where he served as an Elder.  He is survived by his wife, Linda Johnson Simpson; one daughter, Elizabeth Arlyn (Joe) Cuccia of Powell, TN; one son, Rob (Kristie) Simpson of Atoka and four granddaughters, Maddie Cuccia, Sophie Cuccia, Rylie Simpson and Lily Simpson.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Zelma Gwinn and Joseph Martin “Abe” Simpson.  Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, August 28 at the Covington Funeral Home chapel with interment to follow in Salem Cemetery in Atoka.  The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service at the funeral home.  The family requests that memorials be made to either St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or the American Cancer Society.
