Robert “Red” Eugene Wright passed away surrounded by his family on July 16, 2023 at the age of 79. Red was born on August 21, 1943. He was a lifelong citizen of Randolph, TN. Red began his hard working career on a barge on the Mississippi River. He told many stories of his time on the Mississippi River and spent time teaching all his children to ski on the Mississippi. His love, knowledge and respect for the mighty Mississippi was passed on to his children and grandchildren. Throughout the years he spent his career doing mechanic work, driving a bulldozer, and welding and ultimately retired from Ferrell Paving and Construction. He was an avid outdoorsman, spending much of his time duck hunting and fishing with his close friend Charles “Bubba” Maharry. He was known for his stories, hard work, loops through the bottoms and love for his family. He is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 63 years, Connie Wright; His parents, Gladys and Willie Wright, 5 brothers and 2 sisters. He is survived by his children, Anita Holley, Patricia Meadors (Tim), Melinda Brackey (Charlie), Robbie Childress (James “Bubba” Perry), Chris Wright (Annette, Kristin, Ashley, and their four grandchildren); his grandchildren, Brian Meadors, Adam Cooper (Lindsay), Bobby Meadors, John Robert Cooper (Amber), Timmy Lee Meadors, James Holley (Stormy), Brittney Walker, Shannon Boswell, Josie Wright; his great-grandchildren, Dalton Meadors, Kaitlyn Perkins, Charles W. Brackey, Waylon Cooper, Kyle Perkins, Kylee Brackey, James Holley III, Levi Holley, Cameron Brackey, Promise Holley, Angel Holley, River Boswell, and Benton Roe Cooper, and one on the way, Miley Jo Black. Funeral services will be held at Covington Funeral Home at 12 noon on Thursday, July 20, 2023. The family will accept visitors from 10-12 with the funeral immediately to follow. Interment will follow at Poplar Grove Cemetery in Drummonds.
