Richard Douglas “Butch” Dover, 68 years old, passed away at his home with his loved ones by his side on February 12, 2022. Butch graduated from Mississippi County High School in May of 1972 and served in the United States Army from 1972-1976. After his service, Butch had partial ownership in King Cotton Chrysler/Dodge and later owned Dover Motor Company. Butch is survived by his wife Amanda McCain Dover; his three children, Dustin Dover (Hannah), Tammy Sanders (Jason), and Richard Baker (Brittany); two step-children, Cole McCain (Chelsey) and Bobby McCain; 11 grandchildren, Callie Sanders, Zander Allen, Ryleigh McCain, Alex Baker, Summer Lewis, Neely Nugent, Caden McCain, Emma Baker, Kinley Nugent, Carter McCain, and Cooper McCain; four brothers, Doil Dover (Janice), Jerry Dover (Connie), Terry Dover (Monica) and Wayne Dover (Sam), and three sisters, Bonnie Fleming, Caroline Ingram (Johnny) and Dianne Dover. Butch was preceded in death by his father, Lawrence Dover; his mother, Lillian Williams Dover; one brother, Bob Dover, and one sister, Betty Worsham. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 15, from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm at Covington Funeral Home, with a graveside service led by Mr. Kirk Winberry to follow in Magnolia Gardens Cemetery in Covington. Pallbearers will be Darrell Blakeman, Gary Cranford, Moe Eubanks, Neal Presley, Hank Sampson and Stud Winberry. Honorary pallbearers include Dennis Garner, Earnest Griggs and Carol Morris.
