Owen Byrd

Owen Byrd, 69, of Covington, passed away on Friday, December 8 at Baptist Hospital Tipton.  He was a former mechanic at Delashmit Motors in Covington.

Owen was a great husband and father.  He loved to tell stories and that meant that the kids would naturally gravitate towards him.  He was a fan of antique cars as well as WWE wrestling.  

He is survived by his wife, Sara Byrd; one step daughter, Brandy (Christopher) Loyd of Covington; one step-son, Brandon Ford Maxwell of Covington and two sisters, Tina Marie (David Earl) Smith of Covington and Dennie "Sam" (Bud) Akins of Covington.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Evelyene Owen Byrd; three brothers, Johnny Byrd, David Byrd and Charles Byrd, Jr. and one sister, Gathy “Jeannie” McBroom.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. on Thursday, December 14 at the Covington Funeral Home chapel .  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
