Monroe Wilson Brown, 83, of Drummonds, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, August 10, 2024. He was as a beloved husband, father, brother, and grandfather. Monroe was a retired truck driver with Schneider National and a veteran of the United States Navy. He was a faithful member of Bethel Baptist Church where he shared his love of Christ and his salvation.
Monroe is survived by his four children, Tarina Laxton, Thomas (Donni) Brown, Angela (Derrick Thompson) Boyd, and Phelicia (Bryan Barnett) Brown; nine grandchildren, Michael (Jessica) Laxton, Grant (Kasey) Grisham, Shane White, Alex Boyd, George (Brianna) Boyd, Cole Thompson, Stephen Brown, Leah Bolden, and Brooklynn Elzy; five great-grandchildren, Breanna Yale, Monte Grisham, Denver Tate Boyd, Lenae Bolden, and Jeremiah Bolden; one brother, William Brown, and many nieces and nephews.
Monroe was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 35 years, Mary Katherine Brown; his parents, Edward and Odissia Brown, and his brother, Robert Brown.
Funeral services for Monroe Brown will be held at Covington Funeral Home on Saturday, August 17 at 11 a.m., with visitation for friends and family members beginning at 10 a.m. Interment with military honors will be held at 1:30 p.m. in Melrose Cemetery in Whiteville, where he will be laid to rest next to his beloved wife.
