Michele Cookston Fowler, 57, of Covington, passed away at home on Wednesday, December 28, surrounded by her loving family. Michele was a graduate of Covington High School, Memphis State University and Dyersburg State Community College with degrees in Banking/Accounting. She was a member of the color guard for the Memphis State “Mighty Sound of the South” band. After college, she worked in banking and accounting all her life, at Bancorp South for more than 10 years and CNIC at Naval Support Activity – Millington for more than 23 years. When she wasn’t working, she enjoyed spending her time playing piano, creating pottery pieces, and painting. Michele served as an officer of the Links HOA (which she started) for 8 years, and was a big supporter and representative of the Covington Dixie Youth Softball. To cherish her memory, she leaves her husband of 32 years, Randy Fowler; her daughter, Olivia Fowler; her father, Billy Ray Cookston; her brother and sister-in-law, Pete and Melissa Cookston; two aunts, Sandra Reed and Ginger Bailey; one uncle, James Cookston; six nephews, and three nieces. She is preceded in death by her mother, Nadine Turner Cookston, her step-mother, Brenda Price Cookston, and her aunt, Janice Elaine Turner. Funeral services will be held at 1pm on Monday, January 2, at Covington Funeral Home, with interment to follow in Covington Memorial Gardens. Visitation for friends and family will begin two hours before the service at the funeral home on Monday.
