Mary Alice Melton McDaniel, born October 20, 1938, passed away on Wednesday, March 29, 2023, surrounded by her family. Mary Alice was a member of Salem Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church for over 60 years. She worked in the cotton industry for over 35 years in various gins in Tipton County including TR Gray & Son in Clopton, Gift Gin, and Tennessee Gins. During tax season she first started working for her father, eventually starting her own tax preparation and bookkeeping business, which she retired from in 2018. Mary Alice enjoyed cooking, especially Sunday lunch for her family, spending time at the lake with family and friends, and working in her yard, tending to many varieties of flowers. Mary Alice was also a very talented artist, having painted many cherished pieces over the years. She was preceded in death by her husband Gerald McDaniel, her parents Vernon and Florence Melton, and her brothers, Ferrell Melton and Jerry Melton. She is survived by her sons, David McDaniel (Lisa) and Russell McDaniel (Dawn); her grandchildren, Jonathan (Kim), Jeffrey (Caroline), Meredith (Scott), Joseph (Lillie), and Payson; her great-grandchildren, Jack, Tucker, Ella, Caleb, Ruth Anna, Faith, Mary Margaret, Josie, and Vivian, all who loved their “Mimi” dearly, and her sister-in-law, Beverly McDaniel Albright (Jim). Funeral services for Mary Alice McDaniel will be held at 4pm on Sunday, April 2 at Salem Presbyterian Church in Atoka, Tennessee, with interment in Salem ARP Cemetery. Visitation for friends and family will be held before the funeral, from 2pm until 4pm at the church. Memorials may be made to Salem Presbyterian Church, Salem Cemetery, or a charity of your choice.
