Martha Sue McCullough Taylor, 83, of Southaven, formerly of Rosemark, passed away on Friday, July 1 surrounded by her loved ones. Martha was born May 30, 1939 in Covington. One of four children born to the late Mallory and Effie McCullough, she had one sister, Alice and two brothers, Edmond and Jerry. Martha met Hilton Taylor and it was love at first sight. They were married in May, 1957 and raised four boys, David, Rodger, Hilton "Allen" and Robert. They originally lived in Memphis, off Wales Street and later moved to Rosemark. Martha loved to decorate, cook amazing dishes for her loved ones and shop. She loved her family fiercely and believed that each one of them was perfect in every way. Martha never met a stranger and she made friends easily. She was a born-again Christian and she now has a new address, Heaven. She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Hilton Taylor; two sons, David and Rodger Taylor; her parents, Mallory and Effie McCullough; her sister, Alice McCullough Durham and her brothers, Edmond and Jerry McCullough. She is survived by two sons, Hilton "Allen" (Angela) Taylor of Omaha; Robert (LaDonna) Taylor of Southaven; brother-in-law, Prentis (Sandy) Taylor; daughters-in-law, Monica Taylor and Lisa Taylor; six grandchildren, Melissa (Dave) Shively of Charlotte, NC, Mallory (Charles) Ferge of Bartlett, Mindy (Greg) Johnson of Memphis, Angie (Chris) Cupps of Southaven, Matthew Taylor and Madison (Noah) Jacobs of Nashville; 13 great grandchildren, Parker Shively, Savannah Shively, Charlie Ferge, Tyler Ferge, Kenzie Ferge, Pailsey Bishop, Hudson Johnson, Harrison Johnson, Holbrook Johnson, Jackson Taylor, Lilly Cupps, Paxton Ackerman and Emma Jacobs. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, July 6 at the Covington Funeral Home chapel with interment to follow in Magnolia Gardens Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Tuesday, July 5 at the Covington Funeral Home. A special heartfelt thanks to LaDonna Taylor, daughter-in-law, caregiver, advocate and dear friend who helped take beautiful care of Martha in her later years, along with granddaughter, Angela Cupps.
