Leroy Jerry Jones

Leroy Jerry Jones was born at home on May 31, 1935 in the community of Pirtle, TX, not far from Kilgore, TX.  He was the second of seven children born to Oliver Louis and Eunice McCartney Jones.  He went to his Heavenly Home on March 24, 2018.  He is survived by his daughters, Skye Lynn Irion of Munford, TN; Robin Renee Massengill (Dan) of Silver City, NM; Jennifer Glover of Los Lunas, NM; his son, Lyle A. Jones (Julie) of Munford, TN; 17 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren with one more great-grandchild due in June. He is also survived by two brothers, Dale Jones (Essie) of Tyler, TX, and David Jones (Joyce) of Tyler, TX, two sisters, Frances Elaine Cowen (Ken) of Tyler, TX and Nora Porter of Mesquite, TX and many beloved extended family members.  He was preceded in death by his life-long love and wife of 63 years, Nava Jane, his daughter, Trudy Le Wallis and his brothers O. L. and Vernon Jones.  Jerry’s Going Home Celebration will be held at Gateway Baptist Church, Atoka, TN on Saturday, April 7, 2018 at 4:00 PM.  In lieu of flowers, Jerry requested that expressions of sympathy be sent to one of the following: Gateway Baptist Church, Mission Trips Fund, 1950 Rosemark Rd, Atoka, TN 38004; Arizona Southern Baptist Convention, Catalytic Missions, 2240 N. Hayden Rd,  Scottsdale, AZ 85257; St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital; or Wounded Warrior Project.
