Laverne Atkins

Laverne Kinney Atkins, 89, of Covington, passed away on Wednesday, December 7, 2022 at Covington Care Nursing Home. Laverne had a great sense of humor. She was outgoing, willing to try anything, and sometimes sassy. She was a caregiver and a homemaker, and will be missed dearly by all of those whose lives she touched. To cherish her memory, she leaves behind her son and daughter-in-law, Dennis and Tamie Atkins; her son, Dewayne Atkins; five grandchildren, Miranda “Mandy” Atkins, James Matthew Atkins, Meghan Atkins, James Atkins, and Danielle Atkins, and one great-grandchild, Parker Canales. She was preceded in death by her husband, James E. Atkins; her parents, Orin and Aileen Fortner Kinney, and two siblings, Chesley Kinney and Leona Jones. Funeral Services for Mrs. Laverne will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, December 12, 2022 at Covington Funeral Home, with interment to follow in Walton Cemetery. Visitation for friends and family will be held two hours prior to the service at the funeral home.
