Johnny Bailey, 67, of Ripley, passed away on Tuesday, June 2. Mr. Bailey was a graduate of the welding program at Tennessee Technology Center and traveled the country as a Journeyman-Ironworker for many years performing shut-downs of power plants, paper mills and built substantial structures such as the Memphis Pyramid. He loved his Winston's and Westerns but loved nothing more than his family. He was born in Camden, South Carolina to the late Marvin Sumter and Joann Flenniken Bailey. He is survived by the only woman he ever loved, Diane Shepard Bailey; three daughters, Crystal (Billy) Baskin of Brighton, Joni Bailey and Stormi (Don) Wakefield, both of Ripley; four grandsons, AJ (Cassie) Downs of Humboldt, Zackary Downs of Covington, Presley Bailey of Ripley and Dalton Baskin of Brighton; one granddaughter, Kieley-Jo Almond of Ripley and two sisters, Terrie (Roy) Collins of Covington and Lynn (Joey) Townsend of Chester, SC. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, W. Keith Bailey of Brighton. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, June 5 at the Covington Funeral Home chapel with interment to follow in Leigh's Chapel Cemetery. The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service at the funeral home.
