John A. Stanley

John A. Stanley, 78, of Memphis, passed away on Thursday, December 14.  John was born in Munford to the late H. L. And Fontella George Stanley.  Throughout his life, he worked in a number of professions.  He began his work life with UPS and went on to serve on the Memphis Fire Department.  After his fire dept. career, he later worked as an over the road truck driver and with the Shelby County Sherriff's office.  He also served in the Tennessee National Guard.

He is survived by one brother, Dennis Stanley of Memphis and his lifelong friends, Sammy and Mary Laxton.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Larry Stanley.

Graveside services will be held at 1:30 on Monday, December 18 at Helen Crigger Cemetery in Munford.  Friends  will be received at the Covington Funeral Home on Monday, December 18 from 12 noon until 1 p.m.
