John James Johnson

John James “J.J.” Johnson, age 66, of Charleston, passed away on Tuesday, December 7, 2021 at Magnolia Creek Nursing Home in Covington, TN, after a long battle with cancer. Mr. Johnson was a shop supervisor, fabricator and maintenance supervisor for Ross Manufacturing for 41 years. When he wasn’t working, J.J. loved to fish, and sit in the yard watching the wind blow. He is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Marlene Morgan Johnson; his daughter and son-in-law, Elizabeth and Clayton Sponable; three grandchildren, Timothy Sponable, Lauren Sponable, and David Roach; five siblings, Doris (Chris) Hartsfield, Katherine (John) Marshall, Pat Dunkin, Frank (Randy) Johnson, and Don Johnson, and numerous nieces, nephews and other family members. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jessie and Florence Patrick Johnson; one brother, Larry Johnson, and his nephew, Chris Hartsfield. The funeral service for John “J.J.” Johnson will be held on Friday, December 10, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at Covington Funeral Home, and interment will follow in Charleston Cemetery in Covington. Prior to the service, the family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
