Joan Pickard Strong

Joan Pickard Strong, 88, of Atoka, passed away on Thursday, October 22. She was a retired banker with Bancorp South and a member of the Salem Associate Reformed Church. She is survived by her husband of 68 years, Robert L. Strong; two daughters, Jan (David) Jones of Atoka and Julie (Mike) Arney of Collierville; three grandchildren, Elise (Mike) Tompkins, Jon Robert Jones and Mick Arney and her caregiver, LaVerne Hawkins. She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Ruth Pickard; one son, Robert Jeffrey Strong and one grandchild, Michael Connor Arney. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, October 26 at the Salem A.R.P. Church with interment to follow in the Salem Cemetery. The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the Salem A.R.P. Church. It is requested that social distancing be observed and masks be worn during the visitation and service.
