Jerry Heathcott, age 83, of Ripley, Tennessee, passed away on Sunday, February 14, 2021, at the Bells Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center in Bells, Tennessee. Jerry Heathcott will be greatly missed by his family, friends, and community. He loved his fellow man, and was a Christian above all else. Mr. Jerry was the type of man that would rather do something for someone else, than have anyone do something for him. He was devoted to his family and his church, Calvary Hill Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon for several years. Mr. Jerry also served in the Air National Guard, Air Force Division for six years. While some knew him as a store-owner in Gates, most knew him as “The Milkman.” He worked as a Route Salesman for Turner Dairies, Inc. for 38 years before retiring from the company. When he wasn’t on his milk route, he was spending time out in his garden, raising various fruits and vegetables to share with his neighbors and friends. Mr. Jerry loved being outside. He leaves his wife of 54 years, Patsy “Pat” McCoy Heathcott, of Ripley, his daughter and son-in-law, Michelle and Michael Leggett, of Gates; his grandson whom he adored, Wyatt Leggett, of Gates; his sister, Nancy White, of Ripley, and a host of friends and relatives whom he loved dearly. He was preceded in death by his parents, Talmage and Louise Robison Heathcott, of Gates. Mr. Heathcott was an extremely giving man, and his kindness lives on through his family and his works. Funeral services for Mr. Heathcott will be held at Calvary Hill Baptist Church in Ripley on Sunday, February 21, at 3p.m.. The family will receive friends at the church two hours prior to service time. Interment will follow in Grace Cemetery in Central. While masks are not required by the church, they are highly recommended, and we ask that everyone in attendance practice good social distancing. If you are not able to attend in person, but would like to view the service from home, there will be a live stream version available on Facebook Calvary Hill Baptist Church.
