Jerry Don Bennett, Sr., 79, died Saturday, March 16, 2024 at St. Francis Hospital in Bartlett. He was surrounded and supported by his loving family and caregivers during the last days of his life. Jerry was born to Mabel and Wallace Bennett on August 4, 1944 in Dorena, Missouri.

Jerry joined the Marine Corps in 1962 and was honorably discharged in 1966. He then went on to work with the Memphis Fire Department for 36 years. Afterwards, working at ANL Laboratory and then as a motorcycle escort with Horne's Escort & Guard Services. He accepted Christ as a young age and was an active member at Trinity Baptist Church in Brighton.

Jerry is survived by his mother, Mabel Harmon; his love, Alecia Nan Gray; his children, Linda Badgett, Pamela Hogan (Tom), Jerry Don Bennett, Jr. (Theresa), Christopher Bennett (Sonya), Raymond Bennett, Ernie Gray (Tammy) and Tab Gray (Kimberly); 10 grandchildren and nine great- grandchilden. He was preceded in death by his father, Wallace Bennett; his late wife, Yvonne Batte Bennett; a great granddaughter, Chole Gammel and a son-in-law, Charles Badgett.

Funeral services will be held at 12 noon on Monday, March 25 at the Covington Funeral Home chapel with Reverend Bill Cox and Reverend Jim Yates officiating. Interment will follow the service at Elmwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends beginning at 10 a.m. on Monday, March 25 until service time at 12 noon.
