Jeff Hunter

Jeffrey Dwayne Hunter, age 52, passed away on Saturday, April 6, 2024 at Baptist Memorial Hospital – Tipton.  He was born to parents Gerald Dwayne and Jo Anne Dunahoo Hunter on August 15, 1971 in Dyersburg, TN.  Mr. Jeff was a Certified Public Accountant for 17 years with Whitehorn, Tankersley, and Davis, which recently merged with ATA, and was a partner there.  

A graduate of Dyersburg High School in 1989, Jeff attended Union University, where he earned his Bachelor of Accountancy in 1992.  He furthered his education and attended the University of Tennessee Martin, where he then graduated in 1993 with a Masters of Accountancy.  Jeff loved hunting, golf, geography, history, and Tennessee football. 

He is survived by his wife, Holly Cullum Hunter; his children, John Grant Hunter and Olivia Grace (Will) Slucher; his uncles, Billy (June) Dunahoo of Newbern, Herman Hunter (Charlotte) of Frog Jump, and Mike Hunter of Paris, TN; his aunt, Maxine Hunter of Milan; his parents-in-law, Frank and Mary Nell Scudder, and Buddy Cullum (Marie Russell) ; one brother-in-law, Jay (Jessica) Cullum of Atoka; and two nephews, Waylon and Dayton Cullum.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Gerald and JoAnne Dunahoo Hunter, and his mother-in-law, Mary Nell Cullum.

Funeral services will be held at Covington Funeral Home on Wednesday, April 10, 2024 at 3p.m., with visitation for friends and family to begin at 1p.m. at the funeral home. Cremation services are under the direction of Covington Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Heart Association or the American Diabetes Association
