James William “Jamie” Poole, Jr., age 60, of Covington, passed away on Thursday, July 25, 2024. He was a warehouse manager, and had the opportunity to travel and work in many warehouses across the states during his 31-year career with Nickey Warehouse. Jamie was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps, and very proud to have served as a Lance Corporal during his enlistment.
Always giving 100%, Mr. Jamie never did anything half-way. He was a kind man with a big heart and loved caring for his family – both the two-legged and the four-legged children. He enjoyed sports and sharing his love of sports with others, coaching Dixie Youth Baseball in Brighton and serving as President of the Dixie Youth league for many years. He had a soft spot for his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and took great pride in being their “Poppa,” and getting to watch them play and grow. A beloved husband, brother, son, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, he loved his family more than anything, and will be missed dearly.
Mr. Poole is survived by his beloved wife of 41 years, Shelah Riley Poole; his son, Michael Poole; his daughters, Deanna (Jim) Guin, Shamara ( J.L.) Latham, and Christian Poole; his mother, Delores “Dee” Bryant; his brother, Duane Poole; his grandchildren, Shelby (Ethan) Latta, Jenna (Kellon) Edwards, Madison Guin, Joseph Latham, Dakotah Poole, Pheonix Poole, Logan Poole, Ryleigh Poole, Liam Poole, Hannah Edwards, and Shiloh (Morgan) Guin, and numerous great-grandchildren, extended family members, and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, James William Poole, Sr., his stepfather, Charlie Bryant, and his son, Richard Riley Garcia.
Funeral services for Mr. Jamie Poole will be held on Monday, July 29, 2024 in the chapel of Covington Funeral Home at 2 p.m., with interment to follow in Magnolia Gardens Cemetery. Visitation for friends and family will begin two hours prior to service time, in the chapel.
