James Philip “Phil” Kyle, age 73, of Munford, passed away at his home on Wednesday, January 18, 2023. He was a loving husband, father, brother, and grandfather, a skilled woodworker, and the best gift-giver of his family. He enjoyed building things, designing and crafting gifts for others, to fill their home with love and a little piece of him. Known as the “Pickle King,” Phil spent a lot of time in the kitchen, canning pickles and making chow-chow (even though most of the time, he made it too hot for anyone to eat.) When he wasn’t canning, he was cooking, and spending time with his kids, grandkids, nieces and nephews. He loved Christmas, The Beatles, and Memphis Tigers Football, and made sure that everyone knew it, too. He will be missed beyond measure. Mr. Kyle is survived by his beloved wife, Joyce Betts Kyle; his sons, Morgan Kyle and Barton Kyle; one sister, Sammie Kyle; two sisters-in-law, Donna (Steve) King and Glenda Betts, and four grandchildren, Scarlett, Savannah, Aidan, and Ava. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Talley and Margaret Walpole Kyle, and his brother, Robert Kyle, Jr. Graveside services for James Philip “Phil” Kyle will be held on Saturday, January 21, 2023 at 4pm in Bethlehem Cemetery in Memphis. Chaplain Mike Potter will officiate the service.
