James Q. Edmonds

James Q. “Jim” Edmonds, 87, of Covington, passed away on Saturday, December 26. Mr. Edmonds was a retired Executive Vice President for First State Bank having been hired in 1966 and retiring in 1993. He was a member of the Exchange Club, a board member for the Exchange Club/Carl Perkins Center for the Prevention of Child Abuse, a member of the advisory board at Freed-Hardeman University, a member of the Board of Trustees at FHU from 1984-2019 and a member of the Covington Church of Christ where he previously served as an Elder of the Church. He is survived by two daughters, Laura Craft of Covington and Andrea Cook of Henderson; a daughter-in-law, Susan Edmonds of Henderson; two sons, Brad Edmonds of Nashville and Grant (Crystal) Edmonds of Covington; eight grandchildren, Adam (Margaret) Craft, Morgan (Clint) Smith, Caileigh (Mitch) Irwin, Paidon Cook, McKennah (Scott) Shields, Lydia Edmonds, Abby Edmonds, Melea Edmonds and seven great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Willie Carl and Addis Joy Hubble Edmonds; his wife, Faye M. Edmonds; one son, James Q. Edmonds, II and two sisters, Carline Myracle and Velma Bridges. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, December 29 at the Covington Church of Christ with private interment to follow in Magnolia Gardens Cemetery. The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to either the James Q. Edmonds, II Scholarship Fund at FHU or the Covington Church of Christ Building Fund.
