James “Jimmy” Drew Deverell, 74, of Covington, passed away on Sunday, March 13. Mr. Deverell was a retired natural gas repairman with Texas Gas, a U. S. Navy Veteran and a member and deacon of the Charleston Baptist Church. Mr. Deverell was a loving husband for over 53 years to his wife Mary, father to 4 children, and grandfather to 10 grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Mary Priestly Bayless Deverell; three children, Jennifer Deverell, Jeff (Selena) Deverell and Curt (Amber) Deverell; 10 grandchildren, Kade Pearson, Konnor Pearson, Kaleb Pearson, Tristan Deverell, Henry Deverell, Eron Deverell, Aden Deverell, Aubrey Williams, Zed Deverell and Priestly Deverell; two sisters, Amy Hinsley and Gail Lerman and one brother, Dale Deverell. He was preceded in death by his parents, Chester James and Sophia Odell Deverell; one daughter, Lori Pearson; one sister, Joy Yarbro and one brother, Larry Deverell. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, March 17 at the Covington Funeral Home chapel with interment to follow in Charleston Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Wednesday, March 16 at the funeral home.
