James Abbott, 81, of Mason, passed away on Saturday, November 25 after a lengthy illness.
James was a U. S. Army veteran and a member of the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. An electronics technician by trade, he operated a VCR repair shop in Covington at one time. Over the years, you could find him singing at the Strand Theater in Millington and sang there until it closed.
For all that James did over the years, nothing compared to the devotion he gave his wife of 48 years, Carolyn. He cared for her deeply and has missed her tremendously since her passing on September 15 of this year.
James is survived by two sons, David Abbott and Michael Hopper ; one daughter, Deennea Green and four grandchildren, Brooke Nicole Abbott, Emily Taylor Abbott, Brittany Renee Hopper, and Jessica Cotter.
Although James will be dearly missed, there is comfort in knowing he is once again reunited with his beloved wife, without whom his life was just not the same. He was also preceded in death by his parents, John Henry Abbott and Eva Beatrice Champion Gross.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, December 2 at the Covington Funeral Home chapel with interment to follow in Morrison's Memorial Cemetery in Brighton. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
