Jackson Hughey

Greggory Jackson Hughey, age 20, went to be with the Lord at 5:48 am on Sunday, January 28, 2024, surrounded by his loving family.  

He was a graduate of Covington High School, and went on to study at TCAT – Covington, where his career in maintenance and repair began and led him into a job that he loved - working as a maintenance technician for Tipton County.  He was very proud of his hat collection, and some might even say that he could put a Lids store to shame.

Jackson was a sports enthusiast and co-hosted H+H, a podcast with his buddy Tanner Hicks, discussing sports news and welcoming listeners back to “the pod.”  He enjoyed football and basketball games, always rooting for the Covington Chargers and University of Memphis, and cheered his teams on from the stands whenever he got the chance. He loved to be connected to his family and friends, whether it was playing PlayStation, riding side-by-sides, or Thursday night fish with “the boys.” 

He is survived by his parents, Jason and Deanne Hughey; his brother, Jake Hughey; his sister, Jan Claire Hughey; his grandparents, George and Faye Hughey, Betsy Ashley, Pat and Sarah Anderson, and Randy and Gina Parsons, and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and extended family members.  Jackson was an inspiration to many, and will be missed dearly by those that knew and loved him.

Services for Jackson Hughey will be held on Wednesday, January 31st at Oak Grove Baptist Church, located at 4048 Highway 59 West in Covington.  Visitation for friends and family will begin at 11a.m. at the church, with the service to begin at 2 p.m.  Interment will follow in Covington Memorial Gardens. Reverend Donald Dowdy and Reverend Andy Nolan will officiate the service. 

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations in Jackson’s memory be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital and Oak Grove Baptist Church.
