Helen Jones Pierce, age 86, passed away peacefully at her home in Brighton on Saturday, May 7, 2022. Born and raised in Cotton Lake Bottom to parents, Eddie Boyd and Altie Myrtle Pruitt Jones, she was one of 16 children. Ms. Helen was a machine operator for Cadillac Curtain Corp, and retired after working there for over 30 years. She enjoyed music, dancing, and social outings, and was a regular at the Strand Theater and the VFW. In her spare time, she loved to cook and spend time with her family. Her home was the place to go if you ever wanted to sit and visit a while. A genuine lady, loving and kind, she was the best MawMaw in the whole world. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clayton “Spud” Pierce; her daughter, Joyce Pugh; her parents, Eddie Boyd and Altie Myrtle Pruitt Jones, and 12 siblings. She is survived by her son, Jimmy (Paula) Allen; four grandchildren, Melanie (Tony) Moorehead, Lana (Clayton) Ralph, Lisa Phillips, and Cody Allen; nine great-grandchildren, Dakota Phillips, Zander Allen, Clayton Moorehead, Danielle Moorehead, Madison Ivory, Layton Ralph, Lia Ralph, Cameron Phillips, and Bella Ivory; four great-great-grandchildren, and three siblings, Stanley (Charlotte) Jones, Doll (Dudley) Fowler, and Donald Jones. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 10 at the Covington Funeral Home chapel. Visitation for friends and family will be from 12 noon until 2pm, with the funeral to begin at 2pm. Interment will follow in Covington Memorial Gardens, where she will be laid to rest next to her husband.
