Gordon Stone

Gordon Stone, Jr., 78, of Munford, passed away in his sleep January 18, 2022. Gordon was a retired educator at Covington Elementary School. After retirement from CES, he worked as a consultant for the State Department of Education in Memphis City Schools to improve children’s education. He dedicated his spare time to helping others in need. Gordon served on several non-profit boards ranging from mental illness to charities for the underprivileged. He also delivered food for the food pantry at FUMC. He was truly a gentleman and a scholar. Gordon was preceded in death by his parents, Gordon, Sr. and Laura Stone. He is survived by his wife, Dianne Stone his sister, Susan Overholser, his children, Nicola Dawson and Frank Stone. He also has three grandchildren, Ethan Wilson, Zach Wilson and Maximus Dawson. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be sent to the Alzheimers Association at Act.alx.org/site/donation2df_id=4 or to FUMC food pantry. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, January 22 at the Covington Funeral home. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
