Gladys Cortez, 80, of Burlison, passed away on Saturday, June 15 at her home in Burlison. Prior to moving to Burlison 2 1/2 years ago, Gladys lived in Marquez, Texas for 60 years.
A homemaker, she was an excellent cook. Gladys loved to crochet, make dolls and work in her garden. She also enjoyed tackling any number of home improvement projects.
She is survived by one daughter, Tonya (Castro) Brown; three sons, Amador (Betty) Zuniga, Anthony (Kim) Zuniga and Ellis (Felicia) Cortez; two sisters, Betty Howard and Polly Proffitt and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Leola and Gordon Davidson; her husband, Elias Cortez; one sister, Mavis Kurt; four brothers, Bill Davidson, William "Buddy" Davidson, Wayne Davidson and Troy Davidson and one daughter in law, Felecia Cortez.
Funeral services will be held at 12 noon on Wednesday, June 19 at the Covington Funeral Home chapel with interment to follow in Indian Creek Cemetery in Brighton. The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service at the funeral home.
