Effie Evelyn Byrd Rogers Yarbro, daughter of the late Charlie Edgar and Effie True Steward Byrd, was born in Gainesville, TN. A homemaker, she was a graduate of Brighton High School. Evelyn was a Sunday School teacher for many years and enjoyed keeping the nursery also. Her grandsons were her pride and joy and she delighted in them and their growth into young men. She leaves to honor her memory, two daughters; Vicky Lynn Fortner and LaDonna Jordan; a son, Walter A. Rogers III (Mindy); four grandsons, Walter Clinton Rogers (Jerica), Dustin Cody Max, Nathan A. Rogers (Elizabeth) and Caleb Uriah Jordan; three great grandchildren, Ethan Hoskins, Bailey Hoskins and Walter Henry Rogers, all of Covington; two sisters, Martha Lou Wylie of Star City, AR and Patricia Ann Meinke (Floyd) of Mustang, OK. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, Walter A. Rogers, Jr. and Maurice Yarbro; a daughter, Mary Ann Rogers and six brothers, Dalton, Milton, Larry, Lanie, Dayton and Louis Byrd. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, July 31 at the Covington Funeral Home chapel with interment to follow in Covington Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
