Ethel May Spurgeon

Ethel May Spurgeon, age 71, passed away early on Monday, January 20, 2020 at Covington Care Nursing Home.  Ms. Spurgeon was a very loving person.  She had a special love for all her nieces and nephews.  She never had any children of her own but she provided loving care for many children over the years.  Prior to that, she did factory work.  She also love doing ceramics, even having her own kiln. Ms. Spurgeon was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Spurgeon, her father, Lee Earl Downing, her mother, Linnie Ethel Phillips Downing and six of her siblings; Lee Earl Downing, Jr., Frances Campbell, Willodean Scott, Joyce Culp, Palmer Downing and Charles Downing. She is survived by her sister, Peggy Max of Munford. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, January 25 at the Covington Funeral Home with interment to follow in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Ripley.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
