Don Gee

Don Gee, age 78, passed away at his home in Munford on Monday, April 1, 2024.  He was born in Marion, Illinois to parents Geneva and Willy Gee on August 14, 1945.  In his younger years, Mr. Don worked in the coal mines.  He then went on to earn his Associate degree in nursing, and had a career for over 30 years, the last ten of those with the VA until he retired.  Through the years, he did some traveling, visiting old friends from the mines, going to the beach, and visiting with family. Don had been attending Hopewell Methodist Church for eight years, and was enjoying his retirement, spending his days golfing in Drummonds.  

He is survived by two children, Andy (Hillary) Gee, and Julie (Kevin) Richerson; his girlfriend of 18 years, Janet Pugh; seven grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Teresa Lakatos; one brother, Richard Gee, and his sister, Brenda Joyner.

A memorial visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 3, from 5pm until 7pm at Covington Funeral Home.  There will be a time of celebration and remembrance near the end of the visitation.
