David Byram

August 29, 1956 — October 22, 2022

David Byram, age 66, of Munford, passed away at home under hospice care on Saturday, October 22, surrounded by his loving family. David was a rock, a pillar of support for his family and community. Having lived in Covington for 25 years, and then moving back to Munford in 2005, he was well-known and loved throughout the area. When his children were young, he and Malinda could always be found at the ballfield, sharing their time and love for sports with their children, and the neighborhood children alike. David served as President over the ballfields for three years, a coach for Dixie League Baseball, and was an umpire as well. During the winter season, he was coaching basketball and refereeing. David was a hard-worker, and passed that on to his children and grandchildren, along with other life lessons and invaluable life skills. Just prior to his diagnosis, he was regularly mowing several yards to keep himself busy and on-the-go. He had a special place in his heart for Dallas Cowboys Football and St. Louis Cardinals Baseball, but most of all was the “lovin’s and kisses” from his girls - his daughter, daughters-in-law, and precious granddaughters. He was “Pop” not only to his grandchildren, but to their friends as well. He was a kind-hearted man, who had a way of making life fun, and he will be missed dearly. David is survived by his beloved wife, partner, and friend of 42 years, Malinda Blalack Byram; his two sons, Daniel (Whitney) Byram, and Nathan (Jennifer) Byram; his daughter, Lindsey Byram (Bradley) Harris; eight grandchildren, Ryan Byram, Sam Byram, Haley Byram, Lilly Byram, Cooper Byram, Sebastian “Bash” Byram, Bradi Harris, and Jack Harris; his mother-in-law, JoAnn Blalack McCommon; one brother, Jimmy (Gloria) Byram, and three sisters, Ellen Strong, Karen (Terry) Moore, and Sandra (Glen) Gish. He is preceded in death by his parents, James Henry “Quinn” and Doris Malone Byram, his brother-in-law, Tommy Strong, and his father-in-law, Edward O. Blalack. Services for Mr. Byram will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, October 26 in the chapel at Covington Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Helen Crigger Cemetery in Munford. Visitation for friends and family will be held the evening prior, on Tuesday, October 25, at the funeral home from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm.
