Cherry Johnson

Cherry Johnson, age 93, of Bartlett, passed away on Monday, March 3 at her home. Ms. Johnson was a retired switchboard operator with AT&T. Cherry was a big Memphis Chicks Baseball fan and loved animals. She is survived by one niece, Juanita Barnes of Memphis; one nephew, Mike Johnson of Ripley, TN; one great-nephew, Neil (Ashley) Johnson and four great-nieces, Andrea (Tim) King, Mavis Johnson, Gina Delatorres and Judi Simmons. She was preceded in death by her parents, A. V. and Rita Johnson, Sr; one brother, A. V. Johnson Jr. ; two sisters, Evelyn Gaines and Demetria Johnson and her long time friend, Dixie Ely. Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 8 at the Poplar Grove Cemetery in Henning. No visitation is planned. Covington Funeral Home has charge of services. The family requests that memorials be made to the Memphis Humane Society.
