Carey “Papa” Gene Wright, age 86, of Covington, passed away at his home on Tuesday, February 21, 2023. He was retired from the Teamsters Union as a trucker and also retired from Mueller Brass as a machinist. He was a master outdoorsman that loved to hunt and fish, especially catfish. Carey was very ingenuitive and could make or fix anything with his own two hands. He was a loving husband to his wife Jeannette for 31 years. He loved the Lord with all his heart and it showed by the love he had for all his family and friends. Carey was a mentor and a rock to his entire family. His legacy will forever live on. To mourn his passing, he leaves his wife, Jeanette Wright; his children, Curtis Sadler, Liz (David) Call, Charles (Pixie) Sadler and Brenda (Stewart) Voss; his brothers, Garnet (Sarah ) Wright and Everette (Alice) Wright; his grandchildren, Hank (Elizabeth) Taylor, Jessica Arthur, Hunter (Macy) Call, Katie Call, Amanda (Jake) Sanders, John (Hannah) Voss, Daniel (Stephanie) Morris and Christopher Morris and his great grandchildren, Bre, Avery and HG Taylor, Bo Banks Arthur, Brooks Arthur, Caden McCain, Halei and Sarah Beth Voss, Tyson, Emry, Tate and Emersyn Morris, Christina and Cameron Morris, and one on the way, Walker Call. He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Dell Huggins Wright; two sons, Timothy Wright and Bennie Sadler; three brothers, Charles Edwin Wright, Paul Wright and Harold Wright and two sisters, Virginia Griffin and Phyllis Stimpson. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, February 28 at the Covington Funeral Home chapel with interment to follow in Magnolia Gardens Cemetery. The family will receive friends beginning at 12 noon on Tuesday and until service time. And as Papa would say, “If you need me, I’ll call ya!”
