Byram "Billy" Byford, Jr.

Byram (Billy) Byford, Jr., 82, of Drummonds, TN passed away peacefully in his home on February 2, 2022 Billy was born in Drummonds on October 30, 1939 to the late Billy and Ellie Byford. He lived his whole life in Drummonds. Billy started working on the Matt field on the river at Richardson Landing when he was only 16 years old, and that is where he fell in love with the river. He spent several years working as a river boat pilot. He continued his career working for Warren Brothers/ APAC of Tennessee. He retired as a foreman after over 30 years of service. He went on to work for and retire from Ferrel Paving. After retiring from both companies he went on to do dozer work for many years for J&R Construction. Billy worked hard all of his life. Billy leaves behind the love of his life, Patricia Millican Byford. They were married for over 59 years. He was a family man, and his wife, children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren meant the world to him. He is also survived by his oldest daughter, Stacey Byford Stanfill (Cynthia Tucker), his five beautiful granddaughters: Jessica Stanfill (deployed with the US Army to Africa), Megan Stanfill (Neil Kagan), Rachel Barber (Hunter), Victoria Stanfill, and Emma Stanfill, his only grandson Colby Byram Morris, and his great grandchildren Elijah Paul and Harper Dean Barber. He also leaves his faithful dog, Scrappy. Billy has a host of nieces, nephews and friends that will grieve his absence. His youngest daughter, Lacey Byford Morris, who was the apple of his eye, preceded him in death, along with his son in law, Todd Morris, his parents, his step mother, Annie Byford, and his four sisters: Cordie Morgan, Ruby Dollahite, Frances Wade, and Christine Alsbrook. Billy loved the river and spent many hours driving the river bottoms with Patricia and Scrappy. He attended Randolph Assembly of God Church. Billy never met a stranger. He was a great man. He will live on forever in the hearts of all that loved him. Funeral services will be held at 3pm on Sunday, February 6, at the Covington Funeral Home Chapel with interment to follow in Poplar Grove Cemetery in Drummonds. The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service (1pm-3pm) at the funeral home.
