Bob McFarland

December 25, 1942 — February 11, 2024

Atoka, TN

Bob McFarland, 81, of Atoka, passed away on Sunday, February 11.  Bob was a graduate of Kingsbury High School and attended Memphis State University.   He retired from DuPont where he worked as a draftsman.  Bob was a U. S.  Army veteran and was very involved in veterans issues and all aspects of military history.   He was a member of the Military Vehicle Preservation Association (MVPA) where he served as president, was a member of the Mid South Military Museum where he served as the president of the board of directors, was actively involved in the Forever Young Senior Veterans Organization, served as commander of the American Legion Post 67 and was an avid collector of military items.  In addition to his military interests, he served in the Shelby County and Tipton County Sherriff’s reserves and was a member of the Tipton County Master Gardeners.  He was a long time member of the Salem Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church where, throughout the years, he taught Sunday School, sang in the choir and served as both a Deacon and an Elder. He enjoyed life and lived it to the fullest, enjoying both skydiving and scuba diving.

He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Barbara Adams McFarland; one daughter, Terri Ann McFarland (Ruediger) Pflumm of Gomaringen, Germany; one son, Brandon McFarland of Atoka and three grandchildren, Ian Pflumm, Oliva Pflumm and Emily Pflumm.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, February 17 at the Salem ARP Church with interment to follow in the Salem ARP Church Cemetery.  The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service at the church. The family requests that any memorials be made to the Mid South Military Museum in Atoka, TN.
